Bilkent is the first non-profit University that was built in Turkey the 20th October 1984 but Professor Ihsan Doğramaci who had the conception of a distinct research and higher education center as his main goal.
The name « Bilkent » is the incarnation of this goal since it comes from the short form of « bilim kenti » that means « city of learning and science » in Turkish.

5. Hacettepe University :
Hacettepe was built in 1957 at the same time as the children’s medical institue and Hacettepe hospital whose training, teaching, research and service activities have debuted in 1958.
Hacettepe University pursues activities through 15 faculties, a higher education center, two schools, a conservatory, 4 vocational schools, 98 research and application center according to law number 2809 concerning the organization of higher educational establishments, that appeared in 1982.
